January 30, 2020
Happy 2020, welcome to our monthly newsletter! As part of our goals for 2020, I plan on continuing this blog as a monthly update, and will add other announcements and events as we go along.
Last year brought about a lot of changes for us. A career opportunity arose for Mike, and we moved to Pittsburgh. We've sadly had to close the retail gallery space in Front Royal, but are continuing with Art in the Valley online. Pittsburgh has been very welcoming to us, and we love to visit Front Royal on a regular basis. One of our favorite new restaurants on Main Street is Royal Spice. We also enjoy stopping by Fireball Arcade and playing a few rounds of Galaga.
Mike and Armand Cabrera were out painting just last weekend at Passage Creek in Front Royal. Here's a photo of Mike's painting.
Mike, Armand and I will have artwork available in an upcoming charity auction this February. Art of the Piedmont is a fundraiser for Middleburg Montessori School. For information on tickets, visit their website here. We'll be at the auction, and hope to see you there.
I'll have one of my newest paper sculptures, "Bleeding Heart," featured in the February 2020 issue of Create! Magazine. I'm very excited to be included in this issue, it's truly an honor. Check it out here.
We've been trying some new things in our online store, including some fun custom-printed products with our artwork on them. So far we've added mugs and pillows. I ordered some samples and am very excited, they look great. Here's the "Shenandoah Sunset" mug. I love drinking my tea out of this in the morning. Stay tuned, as we'll be adding more designs over the next few months.
January always brings about New Year's resolutions for me, and writing this monthly blog is part of those resolutions (posted January 30th, just in time!). I always have so many goals; sometimes it's not realistic, and I don't get everything done. Another goal I have is to make more time for art. It's very difficult to carve out that time, but I'm slowly working on some new pieces and hope to share them here soon. Baby steps! Do you have any goals for the new year? Comment below, we'd love to know what you've been working on.
Cheers!
