Art Studio Update: May/June 2020

Art Studio Update: May/June 2020

Hi everyone! It's Tiffany, reporting in from Art in the Valley. In these unprecedented times, I hope this message is finding you healthy and safe. Our hearts go out to everyone who has been affected by Covid-19.

As we head into summer, I find myself becoming more and more inspired by the natural world around us. Sunrises and sunsets, blooming flowers, and the warm sunshine on my walks around the neighborhood (social distancing of course) help me escape from all the headlines and negativity out there.

Michael has been working on some awesome new illustrations for Front Royal Brewing Company. The new beers haven't been released yet, but we will be sure to share the artwork when the beers are released. For those of you who collect our beer posters, we hope to have some of the newer illustrations available on our website soon. Below is a fun illustration for a beer that was released earlier this year called Incognito Native. It is a fun take on the famous Rene Magritte painting called "The Son of Man."

I have been working on new artwork in my botanical series. Two of those pieces (shown below), "Eternity" and "Bleeding Heart," were juried in to the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival here in Pittsburgh. Because of Covid-19, they will have a virtual exhibition on their website this year, beginning June 5th. More details are available on their website, https://traf.trustarts.org/ .

I like to make jewelry in-between the larger works of art. They are a nice break between more intense pieces, and I like the idea of creating a tiny, affordable work of art that someone can wear every day. Here is a photo of some recent jewelry I made.

Sometimes it's difficult to feel inspired right now, but I try to post our artwork, or an inspiring quote, on Instagram and Facebook to send out positivity into the world. If you're not following us already, I hope you will join us for daily inspiration. Below are the links to our social media pages:

Happy Spring everyone! It's been a while since I updated the blog. Over the winter Mike and I shoveled a lot of snow in Pittsburgh, and we are thankful the warm weather is finally here. Mike went out painting over the winter. Here is a look at one of his plein air paintings...
