Art in the Valley, a fine art gallery and studio located at 205-A East Main St. in Front Royal will host a plein air painting outing on September 22 from 9am to 5pm.
Artists from the valley region will set up in Shenandoah River Raymond R. “Andy “Guest Jr. State Park and Shenandoah National Park near Front Royal, Virginia to paint in the open air that day. Just around 65 miles from the bustle of Washington, D.C., both parks are an escape to recreation and re-creation. With spectacular vistas, quiet wooded hollows and the Shenandoah River, these thousands of acres of protected land are a haven to deer, songbirds …and artists!
The sixteen artists participating in this exciting event are: Kevin H. Adams; Ron Brickey; Janet Brome; Michael Budzisz; Armand Cabrera; Kristen Colebank; Laura Corebello; Robert Fishman; Abigail Gomez; Beth Hall; Elena Maza; Danny Mulvena; Ginger Peloquin; Chris Stephens; Michael Whited; and Bethany Widom. On the morning of the event, each artist will be treated to fresh baked goods from Down Home Comfort Bakery and coffee courtesy of Art in the Valley. The Town of Front Royal will provide a goodie bag and Mountain Trails will offer a surprise gift.
Members of the public are encouraged to visit the parks and say hello to the painters as they create their visions of the beautiful valley landscape. An exhibition of resulting works will be held at Art in the Valley, October 12 through November 29, with a community art walk and opening reception October 12, 5-8pm. Many of the artists will be present that evening and all completed works will be available to view and/or purchase.
“ Plein air painting was made popular by the French Impressionists, and the practice of painting in the open air still continues today. The spectacular natural views in our parks will provide abundant inspiration for the artists. We are excited to share these works with the community. ” –Tiffany Budzisz

Art in the Valley is one of the newest additions to downtown Front Royal. The stylishly minimalist gallery exhibits emerging, mid-career and established artists creating contemporary works on paper, paintings, fine art photography, jewelry, and sculptural wood and ceramic pieces. The mission of Art in the Valley is to bridge various artist communities and provide its artists greater exposure to new markets, as well as provide a space for arts education and enrichment within the community.
